About the work
Valerie «Vally” Wieselthier already made a name for herself during her lifetime with her humorous ceramics for the Wiener Werkstätte. They are considered to be typical examples of the Art Deco style, but their expressive colours and shapes are unique to this artist. After studying under Koloman Moser and Josef Hoffmann at the Wiener Kunstgewerbeschule, Wieselthier ran a ceramics workshop herself for a time, eventually working as a designer in the USA.
