About the work
Thanks to the monochrome shiny gloss painted surface, the overall composition seems calm, while the haptic aspect of the background provides a stage for the organic life forms. What seems at first sight to be a landscape image, like sun shining on plants, turns out on closer inspection to be something else. Like Anna Genger, Jones plays with human perception. The shapes of his pictorial elements alter in the course of being perceived, becoming something that eschews direct verbalization. Jones coined the term ‘implosive neuro polymorphism’ for this series of paintings.
