Artist
Karl Gottfried Traugott Faber 1786 – 1863
About the work
The title of this work refers to the former mine between Klingenberg and Tharandt called »Segen Gottes«. In the 19th century, mineral deposits were found, metals processed, glass made and energy produced in numerous valleys in the Ore Mountains
Often the peaceful refuge to be found in the solitude of the woods had to give way to noisy modernism. While the mountain stream, the Wilde Weißeritz, in Faber's drawing symbolises the forces of nature, the railway line, stone bridge and tunnel leading across the steep valley in the jagged mountainous landscape all point to industrialisation, which has long since become established.
