About the work
Saint-John Perse (1887-1975) wrote a poem about birds (Oiseaux) as a tribute to Georges Braque's 80th birthday, which prompted the honoured artist to create 12 colour etchings for the text. In addition to the loose-leaf set, a bound book edition was published in parallel, combining text and illustrations.
