Artist
Adrian Zingg 1734 – 1816
About the work
The drawing Near Seerhausen can be regarded as a late product of the Zingg School. It shows a yard with two wattle and daub huts. The upturned bench on the dung heap, the upended barrel at the water channel and the gaps in the thatched roofs all create a painterly impression of dilapidation. This kind of hut was a popular motif, for example, in the circle of the Parisian artist and art dealer Johann Georg Wille, who also influenced Zingg.
