About the work
After moving to Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1970, Christine Stephan-Brosch devoted herself to an even greater extent to portrait photography. She found her subjects in Galerie Oben, but also in the many studios where those portrayed could be shown in a more private setting. Stephan-Brosch’s portraits served to document the regional art scene in an authentic manner. In 2023, the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz purchased twelve of these artist portraits, thus expanding its existing holdings of her work in the collection.
