About the work
Through her figural drawing studies, Valerie Petter achieved a very precise and dense form of textile and surface design. The painter, graphic artist and textile designer created motifs, above all, for textiles, individual postcards for the WW, and wallpapers for the different Viennese wallpaper factories. These motifs are characterised by subdued colours. For a reception room designed by the Viennese architect Adolf Otto Holub, the pattern strips of this wallpaper were cut and applied to the wall individually. The distances between the strips of wallpaper gave rise to a particular airy design.
