Artist
Adrian Zingg 1734 – 1816
About the work
This wooded landscape is a work from the Adrian Zingg School, although this in no way narrows its artistic value and uniqueness, given that Zingg demanded excellent drawing skills from the disciples he trained, as well as from his collaborators. To convey this style to his collaborators, Zingg had them draw and copy nature studies. But most noticeably, Zingg himself drew his own model sheet for teaching purposes, as did his disciples and successors, like Carl August Richter, who in turn themselves trained numerous students. The conifers in the washed pen and ink drawing Waldbach can be traced back to such model works.
