Artist
Gabriele Münter 1877 – 1962
About the work
In 1906, the artist Gabriele Münter travelled to Paris with her friend at the time, Wassily Kandinsky. During this time, she created a series of linocuts and colour woodcuts. In the winter of 1906/1907, during a separation from Kandinsky, she lived as a subtenant in a flat at 58 Rue Madame. The flat belonged to the landlords Madame and Monsieur Vernot and the maid Aurelie, whose name the painting bears, also lived there.
