About the work
Paul Lang-Kurz first attended the Kunstgewerbeschule Stuttgart school of arts and crafts and then completed his studies at the Dresden and Munich art academies. After teaching botanical, ornamental and figure drawing, he was appointed chairman of the textile department of the Kunstgewerbeschule Stuttgart in 1913. From that time on, he focused his creative efforts on developing designs for embroidery, carpets, furniture, and leatherwork. Emperor Wilhelm II awarded him a gold medal for his interior design of the Kunstgebäude in Stuttgart. Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz have four other wallpapers by Lang-Kurz.
