Artist
Ferdinand Kobell 1740 – 1799
About the work
The drawing is a testimony to how self-assuredly and effectively Kobell was able to present plain sections of nature. The interplay of rock formations, plants, reflecting water surfaces and human figures, all rendered in a gracefully flowing style, complied fully with the prevailing late 18th century taste. The art world acknowledged these abilities with the greatest of admiration.
