Artist
Johann Georg von Dillis 1759 – 1841
About the work
This view of Lake Kochel is characteristic of the artist’s landscape drawings. On countless excursions he sketched the Alpine foreland with a cursory line and a loose painting style. The broad view into the distance from a height is framed by rocks and trees which are rendered in deep black. The background is defined by the only slightly accentuated lines of the ridges of the Ester Mountains with the Jochberg. Schlehdorf and the towers of the abbey church St. Tertulin can be made out on the lakeshore.
