Artist
Otto Dix 1891 – 1969
About the work
After Dix was dismissed from the Dresden Academy and his works were publicly defamed, he moved with his family to Randegg. In 1936 he moved into his own home in Hemmenhofen on Lake Constance. Far away from big city life, however, the artist lacked his central source of inspiration. As a result, Dix began to paint landscapes for the first time. In his paintings he processed the Lake Constance landscape surrounding him and his own impressions of nature. With thirteen landscape paintings, the Gunzenhauser Collection has one of the most extensive museum holdings.
